Let me start by saying that i am absolutely DELIGHTED that you brought up that bob’s burgers episode because I have spoken about that episode with regard to this theory AT LEAST half a dozen times. IT IS AN ABSOLUTELY RELEVANT QUOTE, and of course I have considered it as well, if there was any evidence that says Uraraka is NOT the traitor, because obviously i can’t just fall face first into the theory. As starstruck as I am by everything that i think is wonderful about the theory, every theory has it’s short comings... However, I definitely do not think that Uraraka has many reasons for to believe she’s absolutely not.
I’m not even necessarily talking about this theory because i want people to AGREE with me, but rather because I desperately want people to consider the option. If i were to mention casually “Yeah, I think Uraraka is the traitor,” I’m sure a lot of people would dismiss me very quickly. It’s not a common belief as far as I understand. What I really want is just for people to like... CONSIDER what I’m suggesting, because it’s actually more plausible as a theory than most people expect.
Regarding your sections, I’ll start by saying that I’m super glad to hear that the Baku-Ura comparison resonates so well, because it’s still fairly new to my giant ass theory, but at the same time it has to be new because I don’t think I could have come to that conclusion without Bakugou finally making some headway. But honestly, I think of everything I mentioned, that part is the most theoretical of it all. In order for it to be valid, yeah, Uraraka HAS to go down a dark path of some kind; which again, is heavily suggested by the Mt. Lady section. Given everything else, I think traitor is still the most likely option, but also, I think it’s possible for her to go down a different path and still maintain this parallel.
Regarding the rest, I’m going to blend my answer into one as best I can. Whether Horikoshi is a good writer is completely up to the reader, I would say, because not all stories are going to be to the taste of every reader. I think there’s plenty of reason to believe that he IS a good writer, however; one factual reason is that MHA has http://bokunoheroacademia.wikia.com/wiki/Weekly_Shonen_Jump (ranked pretty damn well) in the weekly shonen jump rankings in Japan. This is beating out One Piece, which has a fairly consistent fanbase. MHA has also made http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2016/12/06-1/my-hero-academia-makes-new-york-times-best-tv-of-2016-list (NYT’s Best of TV list) for international television this year (2016). An anime, ffs!!!
But besides that, “the proof is in the pudding.” Goodness knows, I have been burned by series before, and SJ being involved in MHA gives me great fear because I do not trust them after Naruto and Bleach, but they also ran like... Kuroko no Basuke, which is dear to my heart, and Shaman King. So like BELIEVE ME FRIEND, I know what it’s like, and I walked into MHA after saying I was so fuckin’ done with shonen and I’m STILL nervous But...
I absolutely believe in Horikoshi, despite this; even this early on in the series. One of the reasons I’ve already mentioned, it being the fact that Horikoshi loves females. How well an author handles its females is a great way to figure out how good an author is. Think of FMA for a second, and how amazing Arakawa handles all her females; and I don’t think I have ever encountered a single person who doesn’t like FMA; and I would fight tooth and nail that FMA is one of the best manga ever made. And Ao no Exorcist does an incredible job with its heroine, Shiemi, even though Shiemi has literally every reason to be a ragdoll for Rin and Yukio to save all the time. I take those instances and compare them to Horikoshi, and it’s hard for me NOT to believe in him.
Like. Is there ever an instance where Uraraka needs to be saved by a man? As I recall, her introduction basically has HER saving MIDORIYA. That’s already a great start. And in all her other fights, she is pretty much always the one working to get herself out of trouble. She is the one who saves Tsuyu against Toga; she and Iida are an incredible team where she supports him both when the reporters break into the school, but also when the villains break into USJ. She’s just... she honestly IS well written. So a lot of ways I disagree that Uraraka has been the LI for the entire series - rather, she is undoubtedly her own person with her own elements. It’s just that... like i said, she has yet to fulfill her purpose.
And this dedication to females extends into Momo as well, who lost her way after the Sports Fest - during the Exam that comes, after Todoroki puts his faith in her, she almost single handedly takes down Aizawa. I think what’s great, too, is I have ACTUALLY seen people accuse Tsuyu of being “too OP,” because she’s getting stronger and like. That kind of stuff? I love hearing it. It’s like Rey in Star Wars, all the upset dudebros calling her a Mary Sue because she can do what Luke Skywalker can too, LMAO. So like, for me personally? If someone can write females well, they’re a good writer. So a lot of ways I disagree that Uraraka has been the LI for the entire series - rather, she is undoubtedly her own person with her own elements. It’s just that... like i said, she has yet to fulfill her
But another reason why I think he is a good writer is that what really makes it come together is that Horikoshi is incredibly subtle. I think the only thing he HASN’T been subtle about is that Midoriya and Bakugou are going to be allies one day. Other than that, he doesn’t seem to like to put things in your face until the time is right. The first mention of Uraraka having a crush on Midoriya was back during the hero-killer arch, and it was just Gunhead teasing Uraraka. That’s like, what, 35 chapters before Toga shoves it in our face?
Which, speaking of Toga; she is an amazing example of subtlety. When she faces off against Uraraka, there are a lot of things we can note.
At this point we had no idea what Toga’s power is, so it’s understandable that we didn’t pick up on it - but at the same time, the information is right there. No one had any reason to believe that Toga would be a shapeshifter just from this. Which is a great example of why Horikoshi is so subtle. But the subtlety doesn’t end there. Fast forward to more recent chapters and we get to Camie; again, we at this point have no reason to believe that she is anyone but herself. But there are definitely parallels between her and Toga that make sense - Camie is something of a pervert, Camie takes a distinct interest in Midoriya despite not knowing anything about him prior (so we assume), and she does a particular thing twice to Uraraka:
The evidence is there. And hindsight is 20-20, so of course now I can point out all the parallels after knowing at Camie really is Toga in disguise; but before it was revealed, it would have been a damn uphill battle to make a case towards it. So with Toga I want to make two points. One is just to reiterate that HORIKOSHI IS GOOD TO HIS GIRLS. The Toga reveal was amazing. He’s a good writer, HE DID A GOOD JOB DAMN JOB WITH ALL THAT.
But also like... I think with the way that Horikoshi writes, it’s not going to be written very plainly in the text. I think the closest we’ll get to more suggestive material is going to be like the image i linked in my original post which i captioned “What the hell is that face?” Just suggestions that something isn’t quite right.
So regarding her poorness... I think that’s most likely the most we’re going to get. It’s already been thoroughly established that Uraraka’s does not come from a well-off family, and that she loves her parents. There’s not really a reason to nail that home any further, and if anything it may come off as nagging.
